Why I Don’t Follow Trends—And What I Do Instead

Let’s be real—interior design trends are everywhere. From social media feeds to home makeover shows, it can feel like there's always something new you’re supposed to love. But here’s the thing: trends come and go, and your home? It should last.
That’s why I don’t design around what’s trending. I design around you. Around your lifestyle, your story, your needs. Because I believe a space should feel personal and timeless—not like a copy of something everyone else is doing.
Here’s what I do instead.

I Start With How You Live
Before we ever talk about paint colors or furniture, I want to understand how you live in your space. Are you chasing toddlers or hosting dinner parties every weekend? Do you need quiet spots to focus—or cozy corners to unwind?
These real-life details are what guide the design. When your space supports your lifestyle, that’s when it feels just right.
I Stick to Timeless, Not Temporary
Trends can be fun, but they fade fast. Instead, I focus on timeless choices that will still look great five or ten years from now. Think soft neutrals, natural woods, simple lines, and finishes that age gracefully.
This doesn’t mean boring—it means building a strong foundation so your space grows with you, not against you.
I Layer Texture Instead of Chasing “Wow” Pieces
Trendy rooms often go big with patterns or bold statement furniture. I’d rather create interest through texture—woven rugs, nubby fabrics, warm woods, maybe a little metal or leather for contrast.
Texture makes a space feel lived-in and inviting. It adds warmth without screaming for attention.
Color Is Personal—Not Just Popular
You won’t find me suggesting a color just because it’s “in.” Instead, I help you choose colors that feel good. Maybe it’s a soft green that reminds you of nature, or a moody navy that makes your bedroom feel like a retreat.
Trendy colors come and go—but your favorite color? That’s forever.
Your Story Is the Best Style Guide
I’m not here to copy Pinterest boards—I’m here to bring your story into your space. Maybe that’s displaying your grandmother’s dishes in the kitchen, framing your kids’ art in the hallway, or sourcing the perfect vintage lamp that reminds you of your travels.
These are the things that give your home soul. They make it yours.
I Don’t Ignore Trends—But I Don’t Let Them Lead
Don’t get me wrong—I keep up with design trends. But I use them like seasoning: a little here and there, if it fits your style. If something current truly speaks to you and makes sense in your space, we’ll find a thoughtful way to bring it in. But we’re not building a home around a fad.

Wrapping It Up
At the end of the day, I want your home to feel like you—not like something pulled from a showroom. I believe great design is personal, practical, and built to last. So no, I don’t follow trends. I follow you.
Let’s create something that tells your story—beautifully.
