Renovating a historic home requires balancing architectural character with modern functionality. In the historic Ardmore neighborhood of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Kendall Sharpe Designs transformed a cramped, outdated bathroom in a home over 70 years old.

When homeowners think about storage in kitchens and bathrooms, cabinetry is usually the first thing that comes to mind. While cabinets are essential, they’re only one piece of the puzzle. Custom woodworking offers opportunities to add functionality, maximize space, and create a truly personalized look that standard cabinetry alone can't achieve.

Cabinetry is often the go-to solution when homeowners need storage. And while cabinets absolutely serve an important purpose, they don’t always solve the bigger design challenges within a home. Sometimes the issue isn’t just storage—it’s proportion, balance, architectural interest, or functionality. That’s where custom woodworking changes everything.
